REBECCA McSWEENEY is a litigation attorney currently practicing in the state of Rhode Island and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Ms. McSweeney’s most recent practice before starting her own firm, was with Jackson Lewis LLP, a large firm devoted exclusively to management side labor and employment law. While with Jackson Lewis, she covered the spectrum of employment litigation, including both state and federal claims. She has handled cases involving claims of race, age, disability and sex discrimination, as well as sexual harassment, retaliatory discharge, wage and hour, and unemployment issues. Ms. McSweeney has broad experience dealing with the state and local human rights organizations, as well as the U.S. Department of Labor and the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training.
Ms. McSweeney has more than 20 years of litigation experience, including employment, insurance and tort litigation, defending more than 100 trials. She also counsels clients on Federal and state civil judicial and administrative procedure. Ms. McSweeney has managed litigation for a Fortune 300 company and has screened various appeals for the Rhode Island Supreme Court. She has acted as arbitrator in disputes pending before the Rhode Island Superior Court, and has represented clients in myriad arbitrations and mediations.
Ms. McSweeney has been recognized as a recipient of Allstate National Trial Awards for five consecutive years. She has spoken before various business and employer associations, including the Newport County Chamber of Commerce and the Defense Counsel of Rhode Island.
